Star snowflakes.

I have returned! This post was scheduled for yesterday but me and Ben decided to take a spontaneous trip to the cinema to see Django Unchained which was super good. You best go and watch that. My week away to Poland was far too amazing. Since returning to England I have constant thoughts of funny memories and all the beautiful surroundings that our group was in. The deepest the snow came was up to my knees (bearing in mind I am not that short) when we were climbing up a mountain, wait, A MOUNTAIN! I didn't go the whole way to the top but the view from where I was was stunning. Our first part of the stay was in the centre of Krakow where we all stayed in a hostel called 'Goodbye Lenin' which, as you can probably guess had a huge amount of Lenin bits and bobs all over the place. This part of our stay was very cultured and was where we really got a huge amount of inspiration from visits to museums, art galleries and our surroundings.
Another large amount of our trip was eating yummy food and the amazing hot chocolates. Lets just get this straight... everything is very cheap here. Me and a group of three people paid roughly £30 for a three course meal, including drinks which was for all of us. How does that even work out?! So we all took advantage of this and ended up bringing quite a few souvenirs back with us. I adored the lovely hot drinks and the mass selection of teas available. My favourite drink of the holiday was my cinnamon and orange hot chocolate :) The chocolate was melted and very little was added to it so it was very thick and dark in colour - almost sickly but I could handle it ;)
I found a pretty handmade material lady in an art shop for roughly £5 so I had to snap her up immediately! A very simple design and something which is very inspiring with my crafts :) I had a huge amount of fondness for a pretty little painting with added textile elements to it. The artist used silver thread across the picture and lots and lots of glitter to create something very unique. I will be trying out this technique for my current and upcoming projects. Ooh and look, fun textile armour! I loved this!
My favourite artsy place to go was the folk museum. This part of the tripped helped and inspired me the most for my current project. The costumes were very detailed and were bursting with colour and pattern. I concentrated mostly on the collars and beading so expect a collar/necklace by the time I finish my project :) Very exciting! This is where I am going to finish the first part of the trip as next stop, the mountains!
We then took a three hour coach journey all the way to Zakopane which is right up in the mountains. We were spilt into two groups, one had the modern hotel and the other had the log cabin. Unfortunately I didn't stay in the log cabin but we spent every evening sat around playing games of chess and chatting. It was super nice. The upcoming days were spent climbing a small mountain although for us, it was a huge journey! On the way down we slide as it was pretty darn steep and slippery. I also visited the local town/market with a friend where we ate cakes and did a heck of a lot of shopping. I will do a separate post of all my goodies that I brought back :) Expect a bunny hat and gloves... that is all :)
Overall this was the best holiday to date. The atmosphere and surroundings were something I have never experienced before so I give a big thumbs up for that. What made the trip even better was the company. I got to know a lot of people and to spend even more time with the ones I love :) If you ever get the chance to go to Poland I would highly suggest it. I didn't really know what to expect when I went here but I am so glad I got on that plane and went there :) I will end this post with the last day and night which was the best of all.
